The Cutest Baby Shower Cakes for Your Party

Baby showers are special occasions that need special attention. Just like any other party, every detail counts. One aspect that needs special care and attention would be the baby shower cake. Always remember that the cake is the highlight of the party. It is the symbol of the coming of the new baby. Here are some great ideas that would perk up your baby shower cake to set the mood of the event and make the event really special.

.Act on the theme of the party. Most baby showers nowadays go around certain themes. The cake should take on the theme especially in color, shape and design. If your theme is the alphabet, your cake can be shaped into the first 3 letters of the alphabet. If you're going retro, the shape and color should be retro, too. Other theme ideas would be sports and jungle for boys and princess and fairies for girls.

.Be original with your design. Many baby shower planners think of cakes designed as diapers, booties or even mittens. Cookbooks are available that can give you great ideas on what design to choose. Here are other cake designs that you may want to consider: a stork, a bib, a baby carriage, and a baby bottle. The cutest design would really put a smile on the expectant mother's face. The internet would also serve as a good source for cake designs.

.Design the cake based on the gender of the baby. If you already know the sex of the baby, the cake color and design should be appropriate for the gender.

.Since the cake is the centerpiece of the buffet table, it would be great to make one large cake that will catch everyone's attention.

.The fun in the cake designing is in making it yourself. Let your imagination go wild. You never know what idea you can come up with. Your original and imaginative cake ideas would of course be the talk of the party.

.If you are simply out of ideas and you cannot make the cake yourself, it is always safe to just have it made by a professional. Just let the baker know the theme and he can give you proposals on the design. Or you may even want to use a top design that shows a pretty pregnant picture of the mom-to-be.

.Consider the flavor of the cake, too. Many recipe books have special flavors that would make the celebration unique.

.Decorate around the cake. To make the cake a sight to behold, use balloons or even cute, little cupcakes around the balloon. This would really set the cake off.
