When planning baby shower decorations, make sure you don't miss out on any of the following elements.
Theme
You don't need to stick with the usual themes that feature cartoons, baby toys, and pregnancy. You can also go for something more exotic like tiger cubs, just as long as you can establish a direct connection between your theme and baby showers. Also, everything in miniature can make a good theme because babies are often considered tiny mirror images of their parents and as such, anything smaller in size can right away remind people of babies.
Color Scheme
Yellow, white, or ivory are often used for baby showers when the unborn guest of honor has an unknown gender. Pinks are naturally for those expecting baby girls and blues are for boys. You can however deviate from these schemes and go for anything in the rainbow just as long you can readily maintain it for all the elements that make up your baby shower decoration.
Banners
One huge banner proclaiming well-wishes, the baby shower theme, and date of the event hanging on the wall is a must. It may also include the name of the unborn child if it's already been decided.
Balloons
They can be huge or small. One thing for sure is that they don't have to be tied around chairs like they normally are at kiddie parties. Rather, you can go for a more elegant touch by using them as table centerpieces or letting them simply float around the room. Make sure they still match your party theme and color scheme!
Accessories
These include but aren't limited to plates, cups and cup holders, place mats, table napkins and tablecloths, condiment containers, and other items you commonly see in parties. Whether they're disposable or not, you must make sure that they still follow the overall design and color scheme of your baby shower.
Centerpieces
Your choice of baby shower centerpiece will largely depend on the type of baby shower you're holding. Is it a formal or informal affair? Does it have a whimsical or exotic slant to it? Decorative and scented candles are nice for indoor and intimate affairs. Flowers are for all occasions but there are other unique items that you can turn into baby shower centerpieces.
Favors and Prizes
Again, make sure that the items you give away still correspond with your party design and color scheme. Corsages can be given right at the start of the party while other souvenirs and prizes may be handed out in the end.
